Senate confirms Trump nominee for CDC Director

The Senate on Wednesday voted 51-44 to confirm Dr. Erica Schwartz as the next director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

She previously served as deputy surgeon general from 2019-2021. She will serve under Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Trump nominated Schwartz in April, setting her up to replace acting director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya.
