The Smithsonian National Museum of American History will display first lady Melania Trump's inaugural gown from 2025, after previously displaying her 2017 inaugural gown.

The White House called the Smithsonian's display of a second inaugural gown from the same first lady "a rare distinction," according to The Hill.

The white gown she wore in the 2025 event features a black stripe. Her fitting for the attire was part of the "Melania" documentary that aired earlier this month.

A former model, Melania Trump has long been a fixture of the fashion scene and her appearances at D.C. political events in lavish attire have attracted considerable attention, especially from conservative media.

During both of her husband's terms in office, however, she has remained relatively private compared to other first ladies and generally eschewed the forward-facing, political elements of the role.
