Dulles airport mobile lounge involved in second crash in recent weeks
“The shuttle was taken out of service for inspection,” Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority media relations said
A mobile lounge at Dulles International Airport in Virginia was involved in a collision Wednesday evening for the second time in two weeks.
While moving passengers from one terminal to another, the mobile lounge collided with an “airline tug” on an airport service road around 5:15 p.m. ET, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, NBC Washington reported.
“The shuttle was taken out of service for inspection,” MWAA media relations said in a statement. “Passengers resumed their trip on another shuttle to the concourse.”
United Airlines said in a statement that “a United baggage cart made contact” with the mobile lounge. The airline added that one of its employees received minor injuries, and that an investigation into the incident is underway.
A mobile lounge also struck a gate on Nov. 10, injuring 18 passengers, including one who said he suffered a concussion and lost consciousness.
