President Donald Trump's approval rating hit a record low this week amid his efforts to end the Iran war, according to a recent survey.

Trump earned a 34% approval rating among U.S. adults in the latest Economist/YouGov survey. A further 59% disapproved of his performance. The results mark Trump's worst performance in that survey over both terms.

The president was similarly underwater at this point in his first term, down 12 points, though his -26% approval split is far and away his lowest.

The results come as Trump works to end the Iran war, which has seen his public support plummet in the wake of rising energy prices. On Friday, he announced he was in the Situation Room and would make a "final determination" on the deal to end the war.

News outlets previously reported on an extended 60-day ceasefire that still needed approval from both governments. The war began in late February, but has been in a state of nominal ceasefire for several weeks, albeit with some live-fire flare ups.
