Trump backs SD Gov. Larry Rhoden for reelection

Rhoden succeeded Gov. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., after serving as her lieutenant governor. He was first elected to the state's top job in 2022.

President Donald Trump on Thursday backed South Dakota GOP Gov. Larry Rhoden for reelection.

Rhoden succeeded Gov. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., after serving as her lieutenant governor. He was first elected to the state's top job in 2022.

"Larry is a Fourth-Generation South Dakotan, successful Businessman, Rancher, former State Legislator, and now, as Governor, has strongly served the Wonderful People of South Dakota during a career 'loaded up' with accolades and wins," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"He is working tirelessly to Champion South Dakota Values, Promote our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Advance MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Support our Brave Military, Veterans, and Law Enforcement, Safeguard our Elections, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment," Trump went on. "Larry Rhoden has my Complete and Total Endorsement."

The state is reliably Republican and Rhoden is heavily favored to win the battle for the governor's mansion.
