President Donald Trump this week defended Tucker Carlson amid ongoing backlash over his interview with far-right commentator Nick Fuentes.

"You can't tell him who to interview. If he wants to interview Nick Fuentes, I don't know much about him, but if he wants to do it, get the word out, let him. You know people have to decide," Trump told reporters.

Carlson previously interviewed Fuentes, leading to considerable backlash from pro-Israel figures and a number of conservative organizations.

Trump, in 2022, had dinner with Fuentes, who visited Mar-a-Lago alongside Kanye West.

Earlier this month, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts defended Carlson for the interview. Roberts subsequently apologized for his statement.
