Trump bails on Kansas rally, will hold string of virtual events instead
Marshall faces an unexpectedly tough reelection bid in a traditionally Republican-leaning state.
President Donald Trump has abruptly canceled a planned event with Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kans., this weekend, opting instead to host a string of tele-rallies.
“President Trump will continue connecting directly with Americans nationwide through more than 20 telerallies before Election Day,” an official told CNN. “Telerallies give him the opportunity to highlight his accomplishments and expand his reach across the country. Republican candidates want him to come to their districts and holding telerallies allows him to cover more ground.”
Marshall faces an unexpectedly tough reelection bid in a traditionally Republican-leaning state. He is one of several GOP lawmakers forced into closer contests than they would normally expect to face.
In nearby Texas, for example, state Attorney General Ken Paxton is trailing Democratic nominee James Talarico. The midterms are set for Tuesday and candidates have precious little remaining time to persuade undecided voters.
