Trump blasts Talarico during Texas midterm tour

President Donald Trump on Tuesday highlighted what he suggested was a non-sequitur series of policy positions held by Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico during his midterm campaign tour in Texas.
Trump is making several stops in the state to bolster the campaign of state Attorney General Ken Paxton, who faces an unexpectedly close battle to succeed Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, whom he ousted in a primary. He and Talarico are set to face off in one week.
"Get rid of the guns, get rid of the Oil, get rid of the meat, but Transgender Mutilization of your Children and Open Borders are OK," Trump posted on Truth Social. "This is what TalaFREAKO stands for, and this is where he is going to help take Texas if he wins — which he won’t. Ken Paxton is the Greatest Attorney General in Texas History. He deserves to be your Senator!"
Republicans have worked overtime to present Talarico as out of step with Texas voters on issues of values and culture. Current polling shows Talarico with a modest lead, though it remains within the margin of error for most polls.
