Trump expands Most Favored Nation pricing initiative to drive down drug costs

President Donald Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Monday announced an expansion of the Most Favored Nation drug pricing plan and confirmed that major pharmaceutical companies had signed on to the plan.

Also present for the event were Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

"Today brings us to a total of 26 companies that have now made agreements with us. These agreements cover nine out of ten drugs that are used by Americans," Kennedy said.

Trump has pursued voluntary agreements with major companies to keep drug prices for Americans in line with developing nations to end the trend of such firms pricing drugs higher in the U.S. to cover research costs.
