Trump on fears of AI risks: 'I don't have any'

President Donald Trump this week downplayed concerns over fears AI could present a serious threat to humanity as AI researchers increasingly sound the alarm.

"No, I don't have any," he told reporters, when pressed on whether he held concerns about AI's rapid advance. He instead suggested the true threat was allowing China to take the lead on the issue.

“I have concerns that if we don’t win AI, we’re going to be put in a very bad position,” he added.

Trump has, in recent months, doubled down on support for data centers, which have faced considerable pushback across the country, citing their potential to boost local economies and the need for them to expand AI.
