Trump floats jailing Chicago mayor, Illinois gov as ICE storms Windy City

The city and state have sued the administration to prevent the deployment of the National Guard and both Johnson and Pritzker have furiously condemned federal law enforcement's operations in Chicago.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested imprisoning Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Gov. JB Pritzker, D-Ill., for failing to protect federal officers as the state and city push back against his deportation efforts.

Chicago is a sanctuary city and has seen its mayor declare "ICE-free zones" this week as Immigration and Customs Enforcement attempt to remove illegal aliens from the area.

"Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also!" Trump posted on Truth Social.
