Trump to headline third Ohio event next week to bolster support
The Republican National Committee confirmed Trump's plans to visit Chillicothe on Oct. 28.
President Donald Trump will travel to Ohio next week for his third trip to the Buckeye State in October as the midterms enter the final stretch.
Ohio is the venue for a contentious gubernatorial contest and key Senate race that could decide control of the upper chamber. On the governor's side, Trump-backed Vivek Ramaswamy faces Democratic nominee Amy Action, while Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, fights for a full term against former Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.
The Republican National Committee confirmed Trump's plans to visit Chillicothe on Oct. 28, The Hill reported.
Trump's stop comes as Ramaswamy fends off intense backlash over a campaign ad he released that featured Acton's mother denouncing her campaign. Acton has been estranged from her mother for decades over her stepfather's alleged sexual abuse when Acton was a child.
The ad features Donna Arthur, Acton's mother, saying that her daughter "lies about her past" and "needs help." But Acton's brother, Philip Stearns, has corroborated Acton's account of her stepfather's sexual abuse and denounced her for remaining married to him until his death.
Acton currently holds an average 3.9% lead, according to RealClearPolitics. Brown leads Husted by an average 2.8%.
