President Donald Trump on Monday thanked House Speaker Mike Johnson and much of House Republican leadership for their efforts to include key provisions of the SAVE America Act in a budget plan.

The House plan would see much of the bill, including the voter ID provisions, tied to budget proposals, with the aim of getting them through the Senate via reconciliation. That process permits legislation to clear the chamber without the 60-vote filibuster requirement if the bill is primarily budget-related.

"Thank you to our Great Speaker, Mike Johnson, the House Budget Chairman, Jodey Arrington, and the members of the House Budget Committee, including Lloyd Smucker, Ron Estes, Andrew Clyde, Josh Brecheen, Erin Houchin, Mike Carey, Blake Moore, Jay Obernolte, Tom McClintock, and many others, for launching an effort to get AS MUCH of THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as possible in a Budget Bill, along with aid to our incredible Farmers, and funding for our Military," Trump posted on Truth Social

"We need Voter Photo ID (Identification!), Proof of Citizenship and, hopefully, No Corrupt Mail In Ballots (except for illness, disability, Military, or travel)," he added. "I am asking all House Republicans to VOTE YES this week on the Budget Resolution, which is an important first step towards getting a Budget Bill. House Republicans must UNIFY, and fight for THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!"

The reconciliation plan is still likely to hit a snag in the form of the Senate parliamentarian, who has balked at plans to pass legislation through the reconciliation process. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has declined to fire her, despite public pressure from Trump.
