President Donald Trump on Monday shared a meme of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after announcing that the U.S. would reduce the scale of military exercises with South Korea.

The meme features Kim surrounded by military leaders and speaking on the phone with the caption "hey Donald, we cool... right?" He shared the image on Truth Social.

Over the weekend, Trump announced that he had directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to downscale the planned military exercises, citing his "very good relationship with Kim Jong Un."

In a further comment, he appeared to link the decision to a decision from Seoul to refrain from aiding the U.S. in the ongoing Iran war.

"While somewhat unrelated (?), I recently asked the President of South Korea if they would like to join us in the Denuclearization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they said, 'No thanks!'" he added.

While North Korea did launch a ballistic missile last week, Trump declared that North Korea had been "unthreatening and respectful" during his time in office and that continuing with the drills would send the wrong message to Pyongyang.
