President Donald Trump on Wednesday teased an imminent announcement of a new Federal Reserve chairman and appeared to indicate he had selected a nominee.

"We're gonna have somebody that's great and we hope he does the right job," Trump said at the World Economic Forum. He further indicated that he would make the announcement in the near future.

Trump refrained from announcing his decision, instead saying that he had interviewed multiple candidates he believed to be qualified, but bemoaned that "they change once the get the job" and told him what he wanted to hear.

"It's amazing how people change once they get the job," he said, before criticizing current Fed Chairman Jerome Powell for not lowering interest rates except during the election.
