Trump touts 8-1 endorsement wins in Tennessee

President Donald Trump on Friday celebrated the success of his endorsed candidates in the Tennessee Republican primaries, asserting that his one loss stemmed from another pro-Trump candidate winning.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., lost his primary to former state Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher, who had the support of Gov. Bill Lee, R-Tenn. Ogles narrowly lost on Thursday evening, but all of Trump's other endorsed candidates won their races.

"Last night was another good night for Endorsements, 8-1, and the 1 was a person who I remained loyal to even though he had virtually no chance of winning, and was running against a Great 'Trump' Candidate, and former Agricultural Commissioner of Tennessee, named Charlie Hatcher," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Good luck Charlie! Run tough and hard. You have my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

Ogles had attracted controversy over his anti-LGBT and anti-Islam social media posts. He also carved out a position for himself as a leading immigration hawk.
