Trump: U.S. has 'total control' over Strait of Hormuz

Reopening the critical waterway to commercial traffic has become a priority war goal for the United States and was a focal point for negotiations with Iran.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday insisted that the United States currently maintains "total control" of the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing Iran war.

"The U.S.A. has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. I THINK WE WILL KEEP IT!" he posted on Truth Social. "Our Naval Blockade is being called, by everyone, 'A WALL OF STEEL,' and there is nothing Iran can do about it. They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, their remaining soldiers are unpaid, the IRGC is decimated and fleeing, and their 'Leadership' is uncertain, at best!"

"They have No Money - Their country is “shot.” All they have is FAKE NEWS and 300% INFLATION, and getting worse! Iran is all talk and no action, the Bully of the Middle East No Longer. Praise be to Allah!" he added.

Reopening the critical waterway to commercial traffic has become a priority war goal for the United States and was a focal point for negotiations with Iran. Diplomatic talks, however, have largely broken down and the U.S. is maintaining its naval blockade.

Trump's original war aim was to secure commitments from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon, a concession Tehran has been unwilling to make.
