Trump vows to appeal to SCOTUS after lower court blocks WH ballroom

President Donald Trump on Friday raged online and vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court after a federal appeals court ordered him to halt construction of the White House ballroom.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the ruling on Friday, siding with the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States, which had brought the challenge. The three-judge panel ruled 2-1 in favor of the stop.

"The decision has been stayed, and does not take effect for a period of time," he posted on Truth Social. "We will be immediately appealing to the United States Supreme Court. The Military and Secret Service are viewing this horrendous, politically motivated, and unlawful ruling as a National Security threat to our Nation in that the entire Complex is being built for the protection of our Country and, additionally, all future Presidents."

"This unjust decision must be overturned by the Supreme Court in its entirety," he added.

What began as a passion project for Trump has become a security issue after the attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents Association dinner.

Trump has increasingly framed the project as necessary for the state to maintain a secure space for formal events.
