Trump vows to make Iran pay for each American death 'many times over'

President Donald Trump on Monday vowed that Iran would pay "many times over" for every American killed in the ongoing war.

The U.S. has launched a series of strikes over the past weeks after the breakdown of a peace agreement. Trump has sought to extract a commitment from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon and aimed to break them away from their proxy groups in Yemen and Lebanon.

"Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over! This directive has been passed on to Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine, and every Leader in the Military," he posted on Truth Social.

Trump's comments come as Iran has inflicted casualties on American service members in recent days.

Earlier on Monday, the White House touted a poll that found more than 60% support for the original peace agreement, which collapsed amid failed negotiations.

The Houthi movement in Yemen, moreover, announced a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia in an apparent widening of the conflict.
