USS Abraham Lincoln reaches port in Thailand after lengthy deployment

The USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in Thailand on Wednesday, marking an end to its lengthy stint at sea amid the ongoing Iran war.

The aircraft carrier has spent much of 2026 in the Indian Ocean and was at sea without a stay in port for more than 250 days, the Associated Press reported.

The USS George Washington replaced the Lincoln in its deployment in late August. Prior to its relief, the Lincoln was the subject of reports detailing poor conditions and faltering morale among the crew.

Earlier in the conflict, the USS Gerald Ford was forced to stop in Crete for repairs after damage to the plumbing system led to internal flooding.

President Donald Trump initiated the war in late February with the aim of forcing Iran to the negotiating table on its nuclear program. While the president has remained adamant that Iran may not possess a nuclear weapon, he has sent mixed signals about his willingness to leave the current regime in place.
