Virginia county approves $2,000 payments to families of illegals arrested by ICE

The Arlington, Va., County Board has approved the creation of a $50,000 fund to provide the families of deported illegal aliens with taxpayer dollars to cover costs.

The 4-0 vote permitted Arlington Thrive, a local non-profit, to distribute up to $2,000 to eligible families, ARLNow reported. The move followed a sweeping series of immigration enforcement raids in the area.

Exact eligibility criteria remain unclear, but Arlington Thrive has the flexibility to issue the funds through checks or debit card, depending on the needs of the individual families.

Arlington sits directly opposite Washington, D.C., on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. The County is one of several commuter communities that feed into the nation's capital.
