White House claims 9th war ended under Trump as GameStop declares end to Console Wars

The White House, this week, jokingly added the "Console Wars" to the list of conflicts ended under the Trump administration after retailer GameStop declared a formal end to the 20-year competition between Sony and Microsoft.
"NUMBER 9: President Trump presides over the end of the 20-year Console Wars," the RapidResponse47 account posted in response to GameStop. The retailer cited the planned 2026 debut of Halo: Campaign Evolved on PlayStation with cross-platform play as its motivation for declaring the conflict's end.
The "Console Wars" are a decades-long sales competition between Sony and Microsoft, which produce the PlayStation and Xbox game consoles, respectively.
The competition has seen both companies feature game title releases exclusive to their platforms, though titles have increasingly embraced cross-platform play, which allows Xbox and PlayStation users to play the same game with one another.
