The White House on Wednesday stated that the Bureau of Labor Statistics was unlikely to be able to produce October jobs and inflation data due to the government shutdown.

“The Democrats may have permanently damaged the Federal Statistical system with October CPI and jobs reports likely never being released,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, according to The Hill.

“All of that economic data released will be permanently impaired," she added.

The White House has already come under scrutiny over its handling of employment data, due in part, to President Donald Trump's firing of the BLS commissioner earlier this year.
