Afghanistan: US sets up fund to transfer money

Following the takeover of Afghanistan last year by the Taliban, about 7 billion dollars were frozen that belonged to the prior Afghan government. President Biden signed an executive order earlier this year to let those assets be distributed.

The White House announced the United States and Switzerland are in the process of creating the fund that would distribute this money after several conditions are met, including the guarantee the funds won’t end up in the hands of terrorists.
