American Airlines places price caps on some cities to help Southwest customers get home

After Southwest cancelled more than 5,000 flights between Tuesday and Wednesday, some of the affected passengers found other airlines were posting last-minute flights to their destinations, but switching would cost thousands of dollars, and Southwest Airlines does not hold agreements with any other carriers that would allow the rebooking of passengers on different airlines. However, American Airlines says it will place price caps on flights to and from select cities if passengers are wanting to change their bookings from Southwest. The price caps vary by location.
