Minnesota prosecutors drop R. Kelly sex abuse case due to recent federal convictions

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office dropped federal charges against R. Kelly related to underage prostitution on Tuesday. Prosecutors said that even though the victim had agreed to testify and the former rap artist would presumably be convicted, Kelly would likely already spend the rest of his life incarcerated following recent lengthy prison sentences. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years earlier this year and 30 years in 2021 for charges related to child sex trafficking and racketeering.
