NYPD mobilizes over 1,000 officers to curb violent riot at influencer event

A Twitch influencer’s giveaway event in New York City on Friday sparked into a chaotic scene, with violence breaking out amongst the crowd of thousands. The New York Police Department issued a rare level four mobilization of its officers, used only in cases of disasters, to take control of the mob. Police say people threw bottles, garbage cans, and lit fireworks at police, damaged parked vehicles, and stole construction equipment. Kai Cenat, the influencer who incited the event, was arrested and removed from the scene.
