Satellite images show severe thunderstorms over Missouri
A series of severe thunderstorms caused downpours across central Missouri on Thursday, August 3. Some parts of the state received over 6 inches of rain overnight, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. The heavy rain led to flash flooding and left hundreds of customers without power, local news reported. The NWS also warned residents of Western Kentucky of potential flash flooding as a result of the storms. Parts of Tennessee should also expect heavy rain, they said.
