UN Sec. General: We must do everything to pull Sudan ‘back from the edge of the abyss’

United Nationals Secretary General Antonio Guterres called on fellow members at the UN Security Council meeting Monday to “exert maximum leverage” to restore order in Sudan. Since fighting between paramilitary factions and Sudan’s military began on April 15, hundreds of civilians and warring members have been killed and thousands more injured. "Let me be clear: the United Nations is not leaving Sudan. Our commitment is to the Sudanese people, in support of their wishes for a peaceful and secure future,” said Guterres.
