Chris Cuomo details murderous, suicidal thoughts he felt after CNN firing
Chris Cuomo has since returned to television, hosting a show on NewsNation, albeit to a smaller audience.
Chris Cuomo this week shed light on his dark thoughts in the wake of his firing from CNN for advising his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on how best to battle a string of sexual misconduct allegations.
The Democratic governor resigned from his post in 2021 amid mounting bipartisan scrutiny of his behavior. The younger Cuomo was fired from CNN following revelations that he had advised his brother on how best to handle the accusations.
Chris Cuomo has since returned to television, hosting a show on NewsNation, albeit to a smaller audience. The news host appeared on the "Open Book with Anthony Scaramucci" podcast during which he discussed his post-CNN mindset.
"I had to accept [it] because I was going to kill everybody, including myself. Things can consume you," he said, per the Daily Mail, admitting that he "makes a lot of mistakes" and that he still had issues to work out.
He further acknowledged that some of his issues were not necessarily common and that they would require him to address them on his own, saying "[t]here is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is unrelatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on."
Cuomo was still sour about his 2021 termination, referencing an ongoing lawsuit against CNN for $60 million that he declined to discuss in detail. "I believe that was taken, I believe wrongly. I will litigate that. I am not going to bitch about it in the press," he said.
