Chris Cuomo slams Biden on Israel-Hamas war, says hostages need to be a priority
There are still hostages being held by Hamas after its attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo slammed President Joe Biden during a monologue, saying that the hostages taken by Hamas amid its war with Israel have become an "afterthought."
“You’re treating the war against Israel as if it were another political point of compromise," Cuomo said during a Thursday monologue.
"The hostages have become an afterthought and that is wrong," he went on to say later. "And the reason it has happened is even more wrong. The reason it has happened is because other political exigencies and agendas have overtaken their relevance.”
President Joe Biden had a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week where he tried to pressure him to have a ceasefire with Hamas and protect both civilians and aid workers in the area.

Cuomo also attributed Biden's actions to his concerns about the 2024 presidential election. The war in Israel has proven to be a divisive issue for the Democratic party, sparking widespread pro-Palestine protests.
“I get how worried you are that you’re not going to have the same base you had the last time. But that is not an excuse to be weak. There’s a primary reality, okay? We seem to have forgotten it,” Cuomo said during his monologue.
