CNN's Van Jones: Effort to jettison Biden from ticket in its 'endgame'
Jones said that the donors are starting to walk away and that is a concern.
CNN analyst Van Jones said that it is the "endgame" amid the increased pressure on President Joe Biden to step down as the Democratic presidential candidate.
“This is the endgame now,” he said during the Republican National Convention on Wednesday. "You may be able to run out the clock and stay on the ticket. But you got to lead. And we have a big coalition."
Jones later said that the donors are starting to walk away and that is a concern.
“The donors are walking away. The best people in our party, the smartest people in our party, are looking at the math and saying the math don’t math,” he said, according to The Hill. "And so it’s important I think that we recognize that this could be this is the endgame, one way or the other.”
Democratic politicians such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have reportedly called on Biden to end his re-election bid.
This comes days after Biden's poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump last month.
Biden said he would stay in the race unless he was diagnosed with a medical condition.
