Disney reportedly tells 'The View' hosts to tone down political rhetoric
The talk show has become notorious for its clear anti-Trump administration stances, with co-hosts frequently criticizing the new administration and President Donald Trump since he won his election last year.
Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News leadership recently told hosts of the network's "The View" to tone down their political rhetoric, according to multiple news outlets.
The talk show has become notorious for its clear anti-Trump administration stances, with co-hosts frequently criticizing the new administration and President Donald Trump since he won his election last year.
The program also recently featured the first joint interview with former President Joe Biden and former first lady Jill Biden since they left the Oval Office.
ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic and Iger are now reportedly frustrated with the strong anti-Trump rhetoric, sources told the Daily Beast on Wednesday, and told the panel to broaden their coverage beyond politics. One suggestion from Karamehmedovic was to focus again on its celebrity coverage, which has received positive ratings and viewership in the past.
The suggestion received heavy pushback from the women, who said the audience frequently tunes in to hear about their views on politics. But Iger also said the show needed to tone down the politics.
Despite the order from the top, "The View" is still considered one of the most popular daytime network talk shows on television, and even beat out Fox News' "The Faulkner Focus" in viewership in 2025's first quarter, according to The Wrap.
