PBS anchor Judy Woodruff apologizes for on-air comment about Trump, Israel peace talks
The anchor repeated claims Trump asked Israel to delay peace talks to hamper the Harris campaign
Long-time PBS correspondent Judy Woodruff has apologized for her on-air remarks about former President Donald Trump and ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
During PBS coverage of the DNC on Monday, Woodruff repeated claims from Axios and Reuters that Trump, now the GOP presidential nominee, encouraged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to postpone ceasefire talks during this election cycle, The Washington Times reported.
Trump supposedly made the request believing a deal would help the presidential campaign of Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
Woodruff apologized Wednesday on X, acknowledging she had not seen a later news report in which the Trump campaign and Israel denied the claims.
"This was a mistake and I apologize for it," Woodruff said.
