Zelensky says he will speak with Trump on Wednesday following president's call with Putin
As of now, the White House has not confirmed if or when this talk between Trump and Zelensky is happening.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that he would be speaking with President Donald Trump following his talk with Russia President Vladimir Putin about ending the three-year-long Russia-Ukraine war.
"Today, I will contact President Trump," Zelensky said during a joint news conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, according to the Kyiv Independent news outlet.
Zelensky said that he and Trump would discuss the "next steps" following the talk with Putin onTuesday.
As of now, the White House has not confirmed whether or when the talk will happen.
During Putin and Trump's phone call, they discussed the implementation of an "energy and infrastructure ceasefire" and to begin negotiations on the implementation of a "maritime ceasefire" in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Putin reportedly said during the talk with Trump that he would stop ordering strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities, which Zelensky said during the news conference was at "odds with reality."
“Even last night, after Putin’s conversation with ... Trump, when Putin said that he was allegedly giving orders to stop strikes on Ukrainian energy, there were 150 drones launched overnight, including on energy facilities,” he said.
