The Trump administration announced Friday it will cancel roughly $400 million in federal grants to Columbia University for what it considers "the school’s continued inaction in the face of persistent harassment of Jewish students."
The move follows the administration's Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism telling Columbia just days ago that it was going to conduct a "comprehensive review" of the Ivy League university's federal grants and contracts.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon implied in the announcement that Columbia has failed to comply with federal anti-discrimination laws, specifically after Hamas' terror attack on Israel on Oct 7, 2023, and the ensuing war between them.
