Boeing's effort to build a new Air Force One might be delayed until 2029 or beyond, according to a senior White House official who cited supply chain issues.

The official told Reuters that Boeing has been facing some problems with getting components for the craft, in which the president of the United States flies, due to some manufacturers going out of business.

The program, also called VC-25B, was supposed to be delivered in December 2024.

It was pushed back until 2027 and then 2028, but most recently, 2029. The official said the delay could stretch "years beyond" 2029.

President Donald Trump has been involved with the program and wanted it done at a faster pace.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg is going to meet with Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk to discuss the plane potentially being updated more quickly.

“The president wants those planes sooner so we’re working with Elon to see what can we do to pull up the schedule of those programs,” Ortberg said in an interview with CNBC News.
