Gunfire exchanged at Air Force base in Texas after shooter fires upon main gate

The Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (JBSA), located in San Antonio, Texas, was fired upon by a suspect early Saturday morning, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. 

A JBSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital that at least one suspect in a sedan fired upon the gate at about 4:30 a.m., resulting in base security forces firing back. 

There are no injuries reported and that gate had to be temporarily shut down.

It is reported that there may have been more shooters involved but it is not clear how many. 

"There was no active threat to the installation … and our security forces responded to mitigate the threat," spokesperson Stefanie Antosh said, according to the outlet. 

The gate was reopened at about 9:30 a.m. but drivers were advised to use a different gate.
