The much anticipated fight between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and YouTube influencer and actor turned boxer Jake Paul ended in a unanimous decision in favor of Paul, and also with unhappy fans over the quality of the fight and the Netflix production.

Netflix, which carried the fight, had major streaming issues once the main event got underway, as fans at home lost sound in some cases and faced frequent buffering issues, resulting in many cases having to start over multiple times throughout. Netflix announced that 60 million users tuned in live to watch the Tyson fight.

While Tyson was viewed as having won the first and in some cases the second round of the eight-round fight, with rounds lasting two minutes instead of the normal three, the fight was considered by many fans as a “snoozer,” as the 27-year-old Paul seemingly didn’t want to punish or knock out the 58-year-old boxer, who was the youngest heavyweight champion ever when he first won the title in 1987.

“Paul carried Tyson for the final 4 rounds and almost didn’t want to knock him out,” Bill Speros, of the Boston Herald wrote on X. “Tyson basically stood there and took the beating.

“Glad he got his $20M and his last shot,” Speros added. He was referring to reporting from outlets such as CBS News about Tyson’s purse for the fight, according to the New York Post. CBS reports that Paul’s payout was $40 million.
