1 dead, 8 injured in Philadelphia 4th of July shooting
Four of the individuals who were shot and injured were teenagers.
A drive-by shooting in Philadelphia left one dead and eight others injured the evening of the Fourth of July.
At about 11:30 p.m., a man in an SUV fired multiple gunshots at a group of people near the 1900 block of South Salford Street, Philadelphia police said. The man who died as a result of the shooting was 19 and pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, according to CBS News.
Four of the individuals who were shot and injured were teenagers. Two of the victims are being treated at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The shooter's identity and motive remain unknown as of press time.
"It is very alarming, and especially when we have officers in the area to try to prevent anything like this from happening, and it still happened," Philadelphia Police Inspector Kpana Massaquoi said.
Police have said the surviving victims are in stable condition.
