US military says 3 of 4 US soldiers missing in Lithuania dead, vehicle swallowed by peat bog
The identities of the soldiers have not been released yet.
The bodies of three U.S. soldiers who went missing in Lithuania have been found, along with their vehicle that was submerged by a peat bog, military officials confirmed Monday.
The military says the fourth soldier remains missing, according to NBC News.
The soldiers, along with their vehicle, went missing during a training exercise last week in the Baltic country.
The soldiers' M88A2 Hercules armored recovery vehicle reportedly submerged in a peat bog during a mission to repair and tow an immobilized tactical vehicle.
This announcement comes after conflicting reports about the soldiers.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said last week while in Warsaw, that the soldiers were dead, but he didn't know the details.
One day after Rutte's statement, acting NATO spokesperson Allison Hart said authorities were still searching for the team.
The identities of the soldiers have not been released yet.
