Trump orders U.S. flags to fly at half-staff to honor Pope Francis following his death

Pope Francis died Easter Monday after Holy Week.

President Donald Trump on Monday ordered that U.S. flags be flown at half-staff to honor Pope Francis who died at age 88.

Trump wrote in a proclamation that the order applies to all public grounds and military posts, according to CNN.

The order is a “mark of respect for the memory,” of Pope Francis, Trump said. 

Pope Francis died Monday after Holy Week.

Despite Francis being in poor health, he was at some Holy Week events at the Vatican and even met with Vice President JD Vance.
