House J6 subcommittee chair says first hearing of 2026 will take place next week

Loudermilk said he expects the hearing will focus on the pipe bombs left at the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters on January 5, 2021, and why it took so long for the FBI to find the person responsible.

House Select Subcommittee on January 6 Chairman Barry Loudermilk said Tuesday that his panel's first hearing of the new year will take place sometime next week.

The comment comes on the fifth anniversary of the January 6 riot, which saw supporters of President Donald Trump march to Capitol Hill to protest the certification of the 2020 election without investigating the claims of the alternate electors. Trump pardoned approximately 1,500 protesters on his first day in office.

Loudermilk told Politico that he expects the hearing will focus on the pipe bombs left at the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters on January 5, 2021, and why it took so long for the FBI to find the person responsible.

“It’s gonna be sometime next week,” Loudermilk said. “We’re gonna be really looking at the pipe bomb and the FBI’s investigation — previous investigation. Why did it take five years?”

Further details on the hearing were not immediately clear, including the exact date of the hearing and its list of witnesses.

Federal prosecutors finally charged a suspect in the pipe bomb investigation late last year, who has allegedly confessed to planting the devices near the DNC and RNC buildings.
