House Judiciary invites NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to testify about Sports Broadcasting Act
His testimony will be part of the panel's “Examining the Sports Broadcasting Act” hearing, which will review the act and its impact on the modern broadcast market for major sports leagues.
The House Judiciary Committee invited NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to testify in front of its panel about the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 later this month.
His testimony will be part of the panel's “Examining the Sports Broadcasting Act” hearing, which will review the act and its impact on the modern broadcast market for major sports leagues.
"In particular, this hearing will examine the ways in which the distribution of professional sports has evolved since the SBA was first enacted 65 years ago," House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan wrote in the letter. "It will also examine the extent to which the antitrust exemption created by the SBA has been used by the professional sports leagues to harm consumers and whether potential legislative remedies may be needed to address that harm."
The hearing is slated to take place on June 10 at 10 a.m. Eastern in the Rayburn House Office Building.
