The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill that requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to report the number of "special interest" illegal migrants that are apprehended at the borders.

The legislation, titled the "Special Interest Alien Reporting Act of 2025," was introduced by Georgia firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and passed in a 231-182 vote.

The bill, which would require the department to release information dating back to 2021, comes as Republicans warn of the national security risks that the illegal migrants could pose. More than 10 million unvetted illegal immigrants entered the United States from over 160 countries during the Biden administration, according to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise's office.

The unprecedented surge in illegal immigration under the previous administration also included over 400 illegal migrants on the Terrorist Watch List.

"I cannot overstate the importance of passing this legislation, especially given the recent activity in the Middle East," House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green said on the House floor prior to the vote. "The American people deserve to know not just how many special interest aliens entered our country and when, but where they came from."

"[The] Special Interest Alien Reporting Act is a critical step toward enhancing transparency and ensuring the Department of Homeland Security provides accurate and timely reporting to the American people regarding encounters with Special Interest Aliens attempting to illegally enter the United States," Green added in a post on X.
