Pelosi calls for ethics, criminal probe over GOP Rep. Gosar's social media post involving AOC
Gosar posted an animated video earlier this week on Twitter depicting the slaying of President Joe Biden and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez
House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi is calling for both a criminal and ethics investigation into Rep. Paul Gosar, R-AZ, following a social media post he made depicting violence against both Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and President Joe Biden.
According to The Hill, Gosar posted an animated video earlier this week on Twitter depicting the slaying of both Biden and Ocasio-Cortez by fellow Republicans.
Pelosi is also urging House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy to join her in condemning the "horrific video," as well as publicly support investigations being launched by law enforcement officials and the House Ethics Committee.
"Threats of violence against Members of Congress and the President of the United States must not be tolerated," Pelosi tweeted on Tuesday. "@GOPLeader should join in condemning this horrific video and call on the Ethics Committee and law enforcement to investigate."
The House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee released a joint statement concerning the actions depicted in the video, calling them "disgusting threats."
“In any other job in America, if a coworker made a video killing another coworker, that person would be fired," the statement reads. "Mr. McCarthy needs to decide whether he will finally stand with the American people on the side of law and order or he will continue to support violence and chaos.”
Twitter posted a label on the tweet, saying the video contains "Hateful Content."
