A livid Elon Musk has broken his silence on Congress's unwillingness to materially address the debt and codify the cuts he authorized while leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

He specifically took aim at the "big, beautiful bill" championed by President Donald Trump and passed by House Republicans.

"I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it," he posted

"It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt," he added.

The posts mark the first public displays of dissent from Musk after he left the federal government last week. He had served as a special government employee and his time under that status expired at the end of May.

He initially sought to identify up to $2 trillion in waste, fraud, and abuse in order to balance the federal budget. Ultimately, DOGE identified roughly $175 billion. Nevertheless, the White House has sent a rescissions package to Congress for a far smaller sum and the "big beautiful bill" aims to cut spending by $1.5 trillion over 10 years rather than the $2 trillion in one year needed to balance the budget.
