Shooting in downtown Minneapolis leaves one dead, multiple wounded, including two police officers

Minnesota officials confirmed a shooting Wednesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, which has left one person dead and multiple people injured, including two Minneapolis police officers.

The Hennepin County Medical Center said it has received seven patients from the mass casualty event, including one person who is deceased. It did not provide an update on the conditions of the remaining patients.

Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz said his public safety team is responding to the shooting and the Minneapolis Police Department warned the public to stay away from the area.

"State officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement and we will share more information as it becomes available," Walz said on X. Grateful to law enforcement actively working to ensure the safety of our neighbors in Downtown Minneapolis this afternoon. Minnesota is praying for our first responders."
