Oversight Committee requests information, records from Secret Service ahead of director’s testimony
The request comes ahead of a planned hearing with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle next Monday.
The House Oversight Committee in a letter Monday requested that the U.S. Secret Service turn over information and records related to Donald Trump’s July 13 campaign rally where the presidential candidate survived an assassination attempt.
“The Committee seeks clarity regarding the United States Secret Service’s (Secret Service) management of resources and personnel related to the July 13, 2024, campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In anticipation for your appearance before the Committee next week, the Committee seeks information regarding the assassination attempt on President Trump,” the letter reads.

The committee asked that the agency turn over a list of “all law enforcement personnel, including Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security, and local law enforcement” who had a role in protecting former President Trump at the venue and any recordings from that day by Thursday.
Additionally, the congressmen are requesting “all documents and communications” related to the the Secret Service’s protection of Trump at the rally, internal communications about the rally, communications with local law enforcement, planning materials, and surveillance data by July 29.
USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle is scheduled to testify before the committee on Monday, July 22 at 10:00 AM about the security failures that led to the attempted assassination.
