Schumer teases filing FCC complaint over CBS' editing of Trump '60 Minutes' interview

"Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview," Schumer posted on X. "It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday night teased that he could file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over President Donald Trump’s “60 Minutes” interview being edited for time.

The Democratic leader stated that CBS' editing of the "60 Minutes" interview with Trump was in the same manner as its editing of a "60 Minutes" interview last year with former Vice President Kamala Harris, which Republicans have argued was deceptively edited to make the Democratic nominee for president seem more coherent.

"Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview," Schumer posted on X. "It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris."

The White House on Monday rejected the editing as the same, stating that Trump's interview was edited for timing purposes and that CBS released the unedited transcript and interview immediately after the edited version aired on Sunday.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr on Monday also rejected the possibility of filing the complaint, stating that even if one was lodged, it could not be processed by the FCC because of the government shutdown.

"You should end the Schumer Shutdown—which is imposing real pain on American families—rather than nonsense posting," Carr said on X. "You should open the government, rather than using Americans' pain to pander to your far left flank."

CBS News has denied allegations that it maliciously edited Harris' interview to skew the election, but settled Trump's lawsuit over the edits for $16 million earlier this year.
